Mrs. Anna Lou Ivey Tipton, age 95, of 2620 Lockhart Hwy., Union, widow of John D. Tipton, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Tipton was born November 6, 1924 in Union, a daughter of the late Ben Clifford Ivey, Sr. and Anna Harris Ivey. She was a graduate of Kelly-Pinckney High School and retired from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control—Home Health Division. Mrs. Tipton was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. She was a faithful member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and at the time of her death, she was the oldest member.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two sons, Johnny Tipton and Jimmy Tipton; a grandson, Steven Tipton; a sister, Etrulia Moore; and six brothers, Arthur Ivey, Willindsey Ivey, Leroy Ivey, Quinton “Jack” Ivey, Ned Ivey, and Ben C. Ivey, Jr.

She is survived by two great-granddaughters, Haleigh Tipton and Taylor Tipton; a great-great-grandson, Jackson Tipton; three sisters, Rudelle Morris of Union; Goldie Jordan of Titusville, FL, and Barbara Summer of Greenville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Vonda Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Robert Scott. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Glenn Ivey, Mike Ivey, Jerry Ivey, Ben Ivey, III, Mark Ivey, and Chad Barfield. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Stanley Tipton, Jason Ivey, Scott Jordan, Larry Page, Phil Russell, Rev. Bob Cato, and Rick Saylors.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Medi-Home Hospice for the love, care and compassion given to Mrs. Tipton.
