US Congressman. He was a member of the Kansas State House of Representatives, 1909 to 1911 and 1919 to 1921. From 1913 to 1915, he served in the State Senate and was a member of Kansas State Board of Administration, 1923 to 1925. In 1929, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-first Congress and to the seven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1945. In 1949, he was elected Mayor of Fairview, Kansas and was chairman of the County Commissioners for Brown County, 1953 to 1956.
