Florida Kennedy Carnes was the 4th child born to John O. Kennedy and Sarah Ann Parrish. She grew up in the Coshocton County area with her parents, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She met and married Michael Ashby Carnes at the age of 26 on the 11th of December 1879. 9 children were born to her-3 girls, Rhoda Catherine, Mary Olive, and Adaline Jane; and 5 sons- Michael Oliver,John Eddy, Noah Ark, Joseph Armor, and Marion Martin Carnes, all born and raised in Bellefontaine, Logan Co. Ohio. Later on in her life, Michael Ashby and her divorced, date no known. Florida continued to live in Bellefontaine until her death in 1936. She is buried in the Bellefontaine Cemetery, Secton 11 with the Carnes family.
