Matthew L. Stewart, 31, of Elkhart, died Sunday May 31, 2020 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Matt was born in Elkhart on July 6, 1988, the son of Kim E. and Michele (Rivet) Stewart. Michele preceded Matt in death in 2004. Matt went to Elkhart Memorial High School and was employed at Lippert Components, Plant 85. He enjoyed video games, football, fishing and music. Matt cherished the time he spent with his children and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his fiancée, Stephanie Whetten; his children, Alaska Stewart, Emma Edwards and Boston Edwards, all of Nappanee; his father, Kim (Debra Rienks) Stewart of Elkhart; his Aunt (who had a key role in raising him), Renee Kern of Elkhart; his grandmother, Patricia Mills of Elkhart and his siblings, Bradley (Soledad) Stewart of Goshen and Joseph Stewart, Krista (Bobby) Rivet, Wes McClain, Brittney (Lucas) Myers and Tyler Parsons, all of Elkhart. Visitation Monday June 8, 2020, from 3-8pm in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Private family burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
