Wayne Howard Harris, 71, Garrison, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Garrison Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.

Wayne was born May 9, 1949 in Kenmare, ND to Howard and Vivian (Harrington) Harris. He grew up in Kenaston, ND and attended school in Kenmare. He suffered a sports injury his sophomore year of high school that required a lengthy hospital stay and left Wayne with a permanent disability. Upon discharge from the hospital, he moved with his family to Garrison. He attended Garrison High School and with much grit and determination he was able to play basketball again. Wayne graduated high school in 1969.
After attending Minot State University for short time he went to work for Rensch Farm Store in Garrison. He then went on to work at a factory in Wisconsin. In 1974 he worked for his Uncle Don at Harris Gravel in Kenmare. He also managed the Lakeshore Steakhouse and later AJ’s Bar in Bowbells. Wayne’s last job was trucking for Bohl Trucking which he enjoyed very much. Unfortunately, he was forced into retirement due to health reasons. Every job he worked, he had a passion for what he was doing, and he always wanted it done right and gave it his best.
Wayne was married to Audrey Boger in 1970. From this union they had two children, Kevin, and Kristi. In 1987, he started dating Jeanie Nordstrom. She soon became the love of his life and they were married on May 18, 1990. The blending of their families could not have been better.
Wayne was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed all sports, but golf was his greatest love and he enjoyed volunteering at the Garrison Country Club. Above all however, he cherished his time with family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his wife Jeanie, children, Kevin (Camille) Harris, Merlin, OR, Kristi (Ron) Miller, Reeds Spring, MO, Kimberly (John) Ramirez, Salado, TX, Lori Duvall, Garrison, ND and Greg Nordstrom, Jamestown, ND; siblings, Perry Harris, Peggy (Dave) Zimmerman, Mark Harris, Patty (Rick) Fetzer and Pamela (Aaron) Zimmerman; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Vivian Harris.
