Nancy, her husband, Albert Jefferson Ponder and their son Gold Ware Ponder, age 1, first appear as a family on the 1850 Simpson Co., MS census. The were listed immediately above his parents, Thomas and Margaret Ponder.

Richard Womack and Sarah (nee Walker) Dent's son, Richard Mansel Womack, born ca. 1828, died in 1855 in Rankin Co. MS, and Sarah (nee Walker) Dent Womack, and her children, Mary Ann (nee Womack) Walker, Vashti Womack and Nancy Womack and her husband Abner Jefferson Ponder sold Richard's 40 acres to Sarah's son Ferdinand Hayes Claiborne Dent.

Jefferson's 2nd wife, Mary was born ca. 1852 in Anderson Co., TX to Joseph D. Henderson and Amanda Bradford Robinson. Jefferson and Mary had a daughter who was "Misses" Ponder, age 5, born in TX on the 1870 census.
