She was born Jan. 9, 1922, to William and Bessie (Kaiser) Young in the Town of Dallas. On Feb. 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Brendel at Pasco, Wash. They owned and operated restaurants most of their married life until retiring in 1976. Lucille loved to quilt when she was able and had many fine ribbons to show for her work. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and always wanted to be a good example for others. She was also an avid antique collector and enjoyed auctions.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on Dec. 16, 1990; a grandson, Jason Brendel; three brothers, Orville, Delbert, and Foster Young; and four sisters, Velma Hudson, Dorothy Mapes, Julia Hansen and Fern Humphrey.
She is survived by two sons, Kerry (Cindy) Brendel of Frederic, and Rod (Pam) Brendel of Dallas; a daughter, Bess (Bob) Moen of Wheeler; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Tiegs of Dallas and Eileen (Bob) Scates of Altoona; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Ridgeland Community Center, with Terry Ault and Darin Jensen officiating, and interment in Glenwood Cemetery in the Town of Dallas. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas and will also be held for the hour prior to services on Wednesday at the community center.
