Kathy James Anderson, 79, of Gunnison, passed away June 3, 2020. She was born January 30, 1941 in Fayette to John L and Ruth Baker James. She married Rodney Roy Anderson on June 5, 1959 in Fayette. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.

Kathy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare wonderful meals for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and participating in their activities such as piano lessons, sewing costumes for plays, and having weekly sleepovers. She had a hair salon in her house and spent over 35 years cutting and styling the hair of many ladies in the Gunnison Valley, creating lifelong friends.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to doctors Dwight Inouye and Wade Anderson. Also Carma Sorensen, the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Mission at Community Rehabilitation Center in Centerfield and Gunnison Valley Home Health and Hospice. Special thanks to Della Bunnell for the many visits and trips to senior lunch, Sheree McKean for her extra care and to her dog, Chloe, her constant companion.

Survived by her son, Ryan Rodney (Jodi) Anderson, Gunnison; grandchildren: Mindy (Trevor) Jensen, Preston, ID; Mitchel (Lisa) Anderson, Santa Fe, NM; Hunter Anderson, Gunnison; 3 great-grandchildren: Grayson, Wyatt and Nora.

Also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard James; and sister, Janet Lund.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 4 p.m. in the Gunnison City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
