Obituary

Nina Emily Butler was born May 25, 1932, in Payson UT. Her parents were William Butler and Virginia Ardella Hansen. She lived in Murray for over 60 years and passed away peacefully on May 31, 2020.

Mom was loving and a hard worker. She raised her children as a single mom most of her life and, even though she had to work so she could provide for her family, she still found time to read to her children, go camping and play games with them. She worked many different jobs, insurance, recruiting, and most recently for the State of Utah in the tax department. She loved having a vegetable garden and always had tomatoes and other vegetables to eat and share. Mom lived a good life and was cared for by her children.

She is survived by 6 children: Kelly, Scott, Cathy, Karen, Linda and David; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-Grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 3 brothers, Don, Bill, and Sheldon. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Verleene.

She was an active member of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She loved music and her favorite calling was Ward Chorister. She also had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing as a soloist and in choirs.

Mom loved doing crafts and was very accomplished at sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She made and donated quilts, scarves and hats to the police and fire departments to give to children whose lives are interrupted by tragedy. She also donated many quilts to sub-for-Santa and various other charities. She made and donated backpacks to a school in Zambia, where her granddaughter was serving in the Peace Corp.

Due to COVID-19, there will be graveside services only. Immediate family members are invited to attend.

Mom will be interned in the Payson Cemetery.
