A funeral for Richard P. "Dick" Yoder of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Sheridan Mennonite Church. Interment will be in Sheridan Mennonite Cemetery.

Mr. Yoder died Oct. 13, 2001, in Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville. He was 84.

He was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Wolford, N.D., the son of Peter A. and Nancy A. Yoder. As a child, he lived in the Mylo, N.D., area, worked on the family farm and attended Scotch Block Grade School.

He and Cordelle Yoder were married June 17, 1945, in Parnell, Iowa.

After marrying, he lived in Mylo for 21 years. He then lived in Hamilton, Mont., for 31 years. He farmed grain and raised pigs until retiring in 1990.

He moved to Medical Lake, Wash., in 1998 and had lived in the Rock of Ages Mennonite Home, McMinnville, since July.

Mr. Yoder and his wife had cared for many foster children. He was the Sunday school superintendent at the Lakeview and Woodside Mennonite churches. He enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Gloria Frank of Portland, Karen Lehman of Corbett, Brenda Yoder and Lynette Yoder, both of Lake Oswego, and Rachel Reeder of Vanderhoof, B.C.; two sons, Daniel Yoder of Portland and Marlin Yoder of Medical Lake, Wash.; two sisters, Bertha Unruh of Hesston, Kan., and Mildred Zook of Nampa, Idaho; two brothers, Otis Yoder of Minot, N.D., and Ottis Yoder of Ogema, Minn.; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Galen Yoder, four brothers and three sisters.
