James C. Turner
James C. Turner, 78, formerly of 2400 Main and recently a resident of The Parsonian, died at 10:42 a.m. Sunday in the Shawnee Mission Hospital in Merriam, Kan.
He was taken there shortly before his death, which was unexpected.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Turner, on Feb. 24, 1893. He attended the former Parsons Business College and was employed as cashier at the Katy Railroad freight house here until his retirement in 1958.
Following retirement he was office manager for a construction company for eight years.
He married Corinne Dorman on June 2, 1917, in Dennis. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1968.
He attended Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons, was a member of Parsons Lodge 117 AF&AM, York Rite Masonic bodies, Mizra Shrine at Pittsburg and Labette Shrine Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marceline Adamson of Shawnee Mission; one brother, Paul Turner of Parsons; one sister, Mrs. Del Baker of San Antonio, Tex. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Burris-Wall Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Alvin L. Daetwiler. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
