Mama was predeceased by Daddy on January 12, 1987. She was also predeceased by her sisters, LaVerne Carruthers DeBusk and Helen Carruthers Crayne, and her granddaughter, Kathy Scyphers. Mama is survived by her children: Linda Scott McIntosh (Hal), Philip Scott, Paul Scott, and Bryson Scott (Linda), plus many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In her heyday, Mama was a dynamic and conscientious member of the community and an active member of the Seniors Ministry at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church. She loved her golf with the ladies at the Country Club of Lexington, volunteer work at Lexington Medical Center, aerobics at Health Directions, and always helping take care of grandchildren and other family members. She was honored by the Presbyterian Women as an Honorary Lifetime member. For years Mama volunteered numerous hours in the Intentional Care Ministry, which provided meals for families in times of crisis. Mama lived a Spirit-filled life, so we know she will be waiting for us in Heaven. But while her soul has gone on before us, her legacy lives here today through each family member and with each person Mama knew who she was blessed to be able to call Friend. In the declining years of her life, the family gives the utmost thanks to the staff at the Presbyterian Home (Cassells Health Care Center) and most recently to Lighthouse Hospice for their care and love for Mama.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Piano Fund and Lexington County Choral Society.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
