Faye Adams, 88, of Breckenridge, passed away on June 2, 2020 in Graham, Texas.
The funeral service for Faye will be in the Melton-Kitchens chapel beginning at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 5 with Don Bearden and Charles West officiating. Her burial will follow at Hart Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral home staff. The family will be welcoming friends at a visitation at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4.
Wanda Faye Ayers was born on March 30, 1932 in Moran, Texas, to parents Lee Ayers and Nancy Evelyn Ledbetter Ayers.
Granny Faye, as she would be called later in life, was an extraordinary woman. She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved.
Granny married Papa (Calvin) on June 2, 1951. They shared a deep love and 3 children until Calvin passed away in 1991. After grieving for some time, Granny developed a new hobby: she LOVED to dance. More specifically, she loved to country-western dance. Once she discovered this passion, she was two-stepping several nights a week. That’s how she met the amazing Dwight Brown. They were fast friends and companions. He took such good care of her and she absolutely adored him. After his passing, Granny still went dancing for as long as her body could take it.
Another hobby of hers was Yahtzee. She thoroughly enjoyed playing and usually always won. She will forever remain “The Yahtzee Queen.” Granny also loved to cook, something at which she was remarkable. She enjoyed showing her love through a delicious meal. In her younger years, she prepared entire Thanksgiving feasts herself and all the family had to do was show up and eat. But her favorite thing in the world was family gatherings.
She loved having everyone together and would always gleam with pride when surrounded by her loved ones. Granny loved hard. She showed us all what unconditional love looks like and always demonstrated how a daughter of Christ should live. Her family is incredibly thankful for the time they had together and for all of the memories that will be forever cherished.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Calvin.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Lee and Barbara Adams, both of Graham; her son Tommy Adams of Grapevine; as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
