During his military career, Mr. Murphy was awarded the National Defense Service Award, United Nations Service Award, Korean Service Award and the Air Force Longevity Award.
He retired as a master sergeant in 1973.
After his Air Force retirement, Mr. Murphy was employed with the American Geophysical Union in Washington and after moving to Delaware, he was employed for several years with Aetna in Dover.
Mr. Murphy"s favorite hobby was photography and anytime something special caught his eye, he would capture it on film.
He was an active member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church, Lincoln, De. where he served on the church council.
