Son of Philemon Prescott and Elizabeth Taylor, he was a descendant of James Prescott who arrived in New Hampshire from England in 1665 and settled in Hampton, N. H. Mark was a tailor. Sadly, he was killed, age 45, when he was thrown off his horse. See below.

Mark married Mary (Polly) Bean on 23 August 1795 in Bean's Corner, which was a section of Brentwood. Polly was the daughter of Richard Bean and Mary (Molly) Gove. Mark and his wife lived in Kingston, where all their children were born. He was a Universalist and she was a Quaker. They had the following children, 5 sons and one daughter:

Richard Bean Prescott, born 13 March 1798; married Mary S. Pervere;

Benjamin Taylor Prescott, born 28 July 1800; he became a dentist; married first, Mary Hook Sanborn; married secondly, Margaret Ann Rollins; died 1873; buried Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts;

Mark Hollis Prescott, born 8 August 1805;

Lewis Franklin Prescott, born 3 January 1808; married Elizabeth Webber;

Harriet Maria Prescott, born 29 September 1810; married Samuel Sweatt; and

George. Washington Prescott, born 22 March 1813; he became a shoemaker, and married Mary Johnson.

From the Portsmouth Oracle, Saturday, February 1, 1817:

"Died, in Poplin, N.H., January 19, Mr. Mark Prescott, of Kingston, by a fall from his horse, his skull and shoulder being broken. His horse was uncorked and slipped upon the ice in passing a team after dark."
