Dr. John B. Broaddus, a former well known citizen of Gloucester, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. H. Ware, in Richmond. He was 79 years old. His health had been failing for two years, and he had been confined to his bed for the past two months.

Dr. Broaddus was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Semple Broaddus of Caroline County, but spent a large portion of his life in Gloucester, where he practiced for several years. He is survived by two sons, John B. Broaddus, Jr., of Norfolk, and Dabney T. Broaddus of Gloucester, and by two daughters, Mrs. A. H. Ware and Mrs. J. M. Thurston, both of Richmond.

Funeral services were held at the grave in Bellamy's churchyard Sunday at 3 p.m., and were conducted by Rev. H. L. Corr, assisted by Rev. O. M. Clarke. The pall bearers were W. S. and Catesby T. Field, Bartow Ware, Ellis Corr, E. P. Rhodes and Robert Rhodes.
