Mrs. April Collier Marshall passed away peacefully Sunday, December 15 at her home. She was born April 18, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of the late Warner Collier and Mildred Mallon. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Andrew Marshall, Jr. They were married 57 wonderful years. April was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, which she cherished. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School, where she met her husband and he never let her go. April graduated from Benau College and received her teaching certificate from UNC Greensboro. She taught elementary and first grade students for many years, notably at Sherwood Forest Elementary School. Her passion for the arts, raising her sons on the farm, the city of Winston-Salem, the North Carolina mountains and beaches all gave her pleasure. April continually and meticulously decorated her home for every single holiday or special occasion. She always felt it was her "duty" to bring the most joy to any gathering or celebration. Her passion for the arts lead her to her favorite hobby, flowers. She absolutely loved National Garden Clubs and achieved the honor of N.G.C. Emeritus-Marter flower show judge. Her greatest joys were her two sons, Drew and Lance, whom she nurtured and loved all her life, and her grandchildren, Isabelle, Tatum, Collier and Logan Mitchell, staying in touch with relatives, extended family and lifelong friends who made her smile. She is survived by her son, Charles Andrew Marshall III and wife, Tara, granddaughter Isabelle and grandson Logan Mitchell, as well as her son Collier Lance Marshall, granddaughter Tatum and grandson Collier. She is also survived by her sister, Robin Collier and niece Shannon Tucker. We all love and miss you Mom. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 520 Summit Street Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
