John W. Bernacki, 89, of Cranford, N.J. entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 17, 2020.
John was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J. and lived in Clark for 53 years before moving to Cranford 4 years ago.
John was a freelance professional photographer for over 50 years.
He was a Photo Lab Tech for Lux Color Labs in Linden for 10 years before he retired. Previously he worked for Sancor Color Labs in Staten Island, NY and Nagrod Studio in Elizabeth.
John was a member of St. John the Apostle Church where he headed the usher team for many years, chaired the annual blood drive and was a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the Clark Knights of Columbus and a member of the NJ National Guard for 10 years. He volunteered in many capacities at St. Mary of the Assumption parish in Elizabeth, St. John's parish and school in Clark-Linden and Mother Seton Regional High School, Clark.
John is predeceased by his parents John K. and Mary Bernacki, his brother Martin Bernacki and sister Lena Mankowski.
John was the loving husband to Joan Powers Bernacki for 66 years. Loving father to William and his wife Denise of Edison, Katherine Smith and her husband Joseph of Rahway and Marilyn Yasko and her husband David of Windsor. Cherished grandfather to Sean Smith and his wife Maggie Bernhard and Alexander Yasko. John is also survived by a sister Frances Edlund.
A Memorial Mass will be held in the future at St. John the Apostle Church.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Special Projects Fund of St. John the Apostle Church, 1805 Penbrook Terrace, Linden, NJ 07036.
