Edna loved to serve. She worked numerous jobs including the old Pickle Plant, the old Tobacco Factory, and the Best Ever ice cream store. Edna later enjoyed a career at Old Dominion University beginning in 1960 and retiring in 1989. She was hired to serve as cafeteria worker and was promoted to assistant cafeteria manager before her retirement. Following her retirement, Edna continued in faithful service to others working as a private duty nurse, serving several notable families across the state of Virginia.
Edna loved to play cards with friends. She had a wide variety of friends she visited with regularly, in person and over the phone. Edna was a lover of life and good food. She always wore a smile and could be counted on for a cheerful chuckle and the occasional witty punchline she picked up along the way. Edna also loved her husband "Wade" dearly and she was also a lover of cats. She was a faithful member of First Calvary Baptist Church and later Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.
Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her son, O'Neal Jr.; her grandchildren, Angela, O'Neal (Vickie), Sharon, Blair (Bashiri), Ronald, Javon and Felicia, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves behind two special daughters-in-law, Barbara Fornville and Vaness (Rob) Roberts.
