Tena met and later married Robert Frederick on September 16, 1954. She worked at the Rolscreen Company (Pella Windows) for a short time early in their marriage and for Frundt Seed Company. She was a homemaker, taking care of their three sons, for many years, but assisted Robert at various times during their marriage with his painting contracting business, F & B Decorators, and flea marketing. After becoming empty nesters in 1983, she began working in 1984 for the Historical Village in Pella and worked there for 25 years. Tena was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She attended the Open Bible, Berean Baptist, and Nazarene churches in Pella, as well as the Nazarene church in Knoxville with Robert while he was in long term care.
Her hobbies included photography, embroidery, quilting, flowers and traveling.
Tena is survived by: her brother, Leonard Kuiper of Norwalk, Iowa; her children: Verlin Frederick of Mankato, Minnesota, Kevin Frederick of Granger, Iowa, and Leon (Michelle) Frederick of Pella, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Holly Frederick, Stacey Fuller, Mallory Larsen, Brian Frederick, David (Jamie) Frederick, Ashley (Jesse) Greengard, Duane Thooft Jr., Adam (Meredith) Teigland, and Rachel (Ebrima) Jallow; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Hamilton, Kayden Crispin, Kaylee Larsen, Kody Larsen, Trinity Hagen, Alexis Greengard, Bryce Dougherty, Abigail Greengard, Harley Thooft, Jacob Greengard, Sophia Jallow and Zachery Jallow.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Frederick in 2013; her parents, Ralph Kuiper in 1998 and Hattie Kuiper in 1966; her grandson, Joshua Robert Frederick in 1983 and her granddaughter Brianna Thooft in 2015.
