Aug 25, 1939 - May 27, 2020
John T. Gore, a resident of Alvin for the past 18 years passed away on May 27, 2020, at the age of 80 after a yearlong battle with a rare form of Leukemia.
He was born in Tyler, Texas to John W. and Lucille Gore.
At an early age his family moved to Sheridan, Texas where his father was active in the startup of the Shell Gas Plant. He had many fond memories of growing up in the Shell camp and attending school in Sheridan. He looked forward to the reunions and attended as many as possible. After graduating from high school he attended Texas A&M and later transferred to Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas from which he received his degree in Chemical Engineering. While in Kingsville, he worked for Celanese Plastics and was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, active as a leader for Rainbow Girls, and a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts. He completed his career working for contract engineering firms in the Houston area. He loved going to his deer lease in Yoakum not only for the hunting but also the fellowship it provided.
He married Sarah Schaefer of Weimar in 1964 and was blessed with three children; Sean of Katy Texas, Christa Parker of League City, and Christopher of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Lucille Gore, his sister Louise Best, and his beloved Aunt Sadie Wright.
He is survived by his wife Sarah, his children, grandsons, Griffin Gore and Caleb Gore, Peyton Parker and Samuel Parker, two brothers, Clarence Gore of Sugarland and Donald Gore of Possum Kingdom.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Texas Oncology, Methodist Hospital, and MD Anderson.
