Greg Berger, a long time resident of Goldstream Valley, passed away. Greg was born in Minneapolis on Feb. 27, 1955, and raised in New Ulm, Minnesota, where he graduated from New Ulm High School in 1973.
Greg came to Alaska for the great outdoor adventure. He attended UAF and received a biology degree which he followed with a law degree from University of Wyoming. Greg worked as an engineer for the Riverboat Discovery for five years.
He also worked at Alaska Birch Works sawmill in Goldstream Valley.
Greg was an avid hunter and loved to spend as much time as possible in Minto Flats hunting duck and moose.
He loved to be on his boat with his dogs. Time there was special to him and he loved to spend his day looking at all the nature around him. Greg had a kind heart and enjoyed a good joke. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Robert Berger, and his sister, Jane Berger, and is survived by his mother, Marianne Berger Budahn, of Darwin, Minnesota.
There will be a celebration of Greg's life from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Ivory Jacks.
