Josephine Ann (Wray) Galloway-Brown left this world on Wednesday, 28 May 2020, after a tragic fall while gardening. It was a beautiful spring day--her favorite time of year.

Josephine was born in Buhl, Idaho on 23 December 1932, to D.S. and Naomi Wray. She was the eldest of their five children and took her role very seriously. She was the big sister. She learned at an early age to work hard and that she, herself, was in charge of her own story. Following her graduation from Buhl High School in 1951, Josephine was dropped off in "The Big City" of Salt Lake City, Utah in the fall of that same year, to make her own way.

She graduated from Stevens-Henager College in June 1952, which laid the foundation for most of her life’s work in medical bookkeeping, accounting and, eventually, led her to start her own computer business.

Josephine took pride in balancing “to the penny” and always spent hours finding every last cent.

Her greatest pleasure and absolute happiness was found with her family. She married Fredrick Wayne Galloway in July 1964 and two daughters, Jan and Joy, blessed their union. Unfortunately, she and Fred later divorced. This is when her real work began as Josephine did everything she could to provide for her two “sweethearts”. She wanted nothing but the best and did everything she could to ensure her girls had everything they needed.

In 1992, Josephine retired to be a grandmother. She treasured the opportunity, immeasurable time and influence she could provide to her growing family once again. Being a grandma was a joy to Josephine. She was so proud and would cheer her grandkids on at every event they undertook.

Josephine loved yard work, golfing, fishing, and the Wyoming horse races. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan who enjoyed doing her daily Sudoku puzzle and getting her nails done. She was a “pinch of this and a dash of that”-kind of cook and retirement allowed her the time to share her talents. Undoubtedly, Josephine has delivered hundreds of her famous German chocolate cakes and her one-of- a kind homemade dinner rolls!

In February 1991, Josephine married Dr. H. Jess Brown and they were able to travel the world and spend hours sharing stories. They enjoyed about twelve years together before his passing in 2003.

Josephine was a care giver. She thrived on taking care of others which she often did long before taking care of herself.

Josephine's family expresses their deepest love and gratitude to Mr. Joseph Garcia for his friendship, love and companionship he provided her over the past eighteen years. "Joe, you made her happy."

In addition to her parents and husband, Jess Brown, Josephine was predeceased by her brother, James Wray.

Left to cherish her memory are Josephine's daughters, Jan (Layne) Black and Joy Galloway (Keltie) Jones; grandchildren, Casey, Cory (Leslie), Diana, JoJo, Kristen (Rory), Nikole, and Shana (Michael); along with six great-grandchildren. Also surviving Josephine are her siblings, Barbara Jean Wray, John (Rita) Wray and Jerry (Mary Jo) Wray; along with many nephews and nieces

In lieu of a funeral and due to the current circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic, a “sweet and simple” celebration of life will take place at a later date in the sunshine--perhaps it will be in a flower garden--replete with lifelong memories rooted in us all. "Mom, it’s your favorite, happiest time of the year. You will be loved and remembered for all the color, warmth and light you provided so many. Know you will be missed, but because of you, we will all continue to bloom."

Arrangements entrusted to Russon Brothers' Bountiful Mortuary.
