He was born in Watauga County on November 25, 1935 to Julia Storie and Carl Anderson Reed. He was retired from Amp Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Crowell Reed; a son, Johnny Carl Reed (Gina); a daughter, Sandra R. Ernest (Robert); and two grandchildren, Michael Dylan Reed, and Tyler Christian Ernest.
The family will hold a private service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
