MRS. A. E. BATES DIES SUNDAY AT BROKEN BOW HOME
Mrs. A. E. Bates, 59 (Note: she was 69), Broken Bow, died at her home at 12:10 a. m. Sunday.
Born at Cherry Hill, Ark., January 25, 1891 (Note: her gravestone has 1881), she had resided in Broken Bow for the past 35 years, moving from Arkansas. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Lon Feemster, Broken Bow, and Mrs. J. C. Page, Springfield, Ore.; two sons, Russell Simpson, Mount Ida, Ark., and Owen Bates, Torrence, Calif.; four stepchildren, Mrs. John Lauderdale, Crescent, Ore.; Mrs. Ernest Garner, Mount Ida, ; Ted Bates, Broken Bow, and James Bates, Broken Bow; one sister, Mrs. Edna Wimberly, Mena; four half-sisters, Mrs. Mertie Woods, Ink, Ark.; Mrs. Berl Gardner, Norman; Mrs. Henry Dickson, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Monroe Hughes, Ink; 28 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p. m. at the Assembly of God church here with the Rev. T. C. Burkett, pastor, officiating, assisted Rev. J. N. Simpson of Mena, Arkansas.
Burial was in the Broken Bow cemetery under the direction of the Coffey Funeral Home.
