Resident of Odenton, MD. He grew up in Pony, MT and was raised by his maternal grandmother. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1953 and enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1955. On November 2, 1957, he married the former Joellen Schweitzer in Washington, D.C. While serving in the Army, he was a helicopter mechanic and served overseas in Korea, Panama, and Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army in 1964, he settled in the Washington D.C. suburbs. He went on to be a construction equipment mechanic, and starting in 1983, shop foreman for Potomac Industrial Trucks, from which he retired in 2004. After an extremely brief retirement, he went to work for Glenn Dale Golf Course maintaining their equipment for several years, finally retiring in 2014. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill and Eva. Surviving are his wife, Joellen; three sons, John (Mary Beth) of Stevensville, MD, Jason (Bridgitte) of Stevensville, MD, Joseph (Jenny) of Abingdon, MD; nine grandchildren and great grandson.
