Samantha "Sam" Anne Stephens

Samantha "Sam" Stephens, 21, of Lebanon died Saturday in a motorcycle accident near Lebanon.

Sam was born in Lebanon, the daughter of Sam and Kathy Stephens. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 2004. She played volleyball, softball and basketball her freshman year. Her sophomore year, she discovered her true passion was dance and was active with the dance team the next three years. She was a 2004 Strawberry Festival and Homecoming Princess. She was also an honor student, served in many school clubs and was active in her church. She did all of this and had juvenile diabetes. She worked summers at Taco Time in Lebanon. Sam was enrolled at Western Oregon University, where she was going to complete her senior year and receive her bachelor's degree in psychology.

"Samantha was a kindhearted soul, who treated everyone she met like they were special to her. Her passing is a great loss to her family, many friends and large extended family."

She is survived by parents Kathy and Ken Norris; father Sam Stephens; brothers Tim Villegas, and John and Monty Norris; sisters Melody, Marrisa, Heather and Janel; grandparents Bill and Alice Labell; and aunts and uncles Donna and Art Friesz, Jan and Dan Miner, Lola and Butch Stephens, and Jerry and John Lutz. She also had 11 nieces and nephews, who called her aunt "Mina" and who will miss her.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at the Community Chapel, 42250 Ames Creek Dr., in Sweet Home. A graveside service will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
