Mary Ida Linville, widow of W.H. Linville, departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Bourbon Heights, in Paris, Kentucky, having attained the age of 104. She was born in Ruddles Mills, Kentucky, on January 16, 1916, the daughter of the late Edward and Ida Layton Owsley. Mary attended school in the Ruddles Mill school system and was a member of Rose Rebekah Lodge #7, a homemaker, and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Marilee Galbraith Wardle; and two sons, James Garrett Linville and W.H. Linville, Jr. Survivors include: a son, Edward Linville, and his wife, Jane, of Lexington; six grandchildren, W.H. “Trey” Linville, III (Shelley), Gare Galbraith (Alex), Kelly Galbraith Geoghegan (Philip), B.J. Linville Short (Jim), Joseph Linville (Carol) and James Linville, Jr. (Jessica); eight great-grandchildren, Hayden Short, Brandon Short, McKenna Geoghegan, Patrick Geoghegan, Matthew Linville, Daniel Linville, Austin Linville and Taylor Linville; and one great-great-grandchild, Kassi Short.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery, with casket bearers being Patrick Geoghegan, Hayden Short, Joseph Linville, Jim Short, Daniel Linville and James Linville, Jr. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
