Nancy Ann Shuffield Lemons
October 13, 1941 - May 29, 2020
Nancy Ann Shuffield Lemons, age 78 of Monticello, arrived in Heaven on May 29, 2020. She was born on October 13, 1941, in Levy, Arkansas, to the late Delmar and Valerie Ann Weaver Shuffield, spending most of her life in Monticello, Arkansas, where she helped her husband in his church ministry.

She is also preceeded in death by her daughter-in-law, Janice Berryman Lemons; and her brother, Bill Shuffield.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Boyd “Buddy” Lemons of Monticello. She is also survived by two sons, Tim Lemons (Cabot) and fiancé Melinda, and Paul Lemons (Monticello); two grandchildren, Erica Lemons-Burke and husband Jason (Ward), and Seth Lemons (Cabot); and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie “KK” (Ward), and Harley (The Woodlands, Texas); sisters, Peggy Witherspoon (Clarksville), and Sue Morton (Benton); several nieces and nephews; and a number of great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by her two puppy babies, Daisy and Roscoe.

Whereas she had many titles, the best known title was MOM. She may have been a mother to only two boys, but she became a mom to countless more. Whether you needed a meal, someone to talk to, or a hug, she was always the first one there to help.

She loved cooking and sewing, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her warmth and compassion were well known to all that she had met. It's that compassion that led her to what can best be called “her card ministry”. Each year, she would mail hundreds if not thousands of greeting cards to many people that she carried for. On each of these greeting cards, she would write a specialized note showing that warmth, compassion, and love. Throughout her life, she was very involved in her church, and helped her husband in building Pauline Baptist Church, and Pleasant Springs Baptist Church, both in the Monticello area. Having a son with special needs, she loved helping with Special Olympics, and was a strong advocate for programs associated with assisting special needs individuals. She also worked at Drew County Developmental Disabilities for over 20 years of dedicated service to those with special needs.
June 2, 2020, at Pauline Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. Her husband Buddy, and son Tim will be officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
