Joe was born on June 30, 1953 in Taylor, Texas to Juan and Juana Lopez.
He was raised in Thorndale and was a proud Thorndale Bulldog.
He loved to sing, dance, and spend time with his friends and family. His heart was always full and happy while singing in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Choir.
He married the love of his life, Hope, on July 18, 1970. He would dedicate the song “My Girl” at every function he got the chance to sing it or dance to with her in his arms. Together, they raised three beautiful children, Joe Anthony, Sonia, and Jason. His family grew along the years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents & father-in-law, Salvador Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Hope, of 50 years; Joe Anthony and his wife Elsa, Sonia Gonzales and husband Michael, & Jason and his fiancée Patricia; grandchildren, Mikie, Matthew, Seth, Mariah, Clarisa, Elisa, Marcus, Cynthia, Eric, John, & Brandon; 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Macaria (Andrew) Gonzales, Delia (Bugs) Torres, and Estella (Raymond) Barrios; longtime friend “like a brother” John Hernandez; mother-in-law Pauline Diaz; brother-in-laws, Arthur (Vera) Martinez, Roger Martinez, Rudy (Emily) Martinez, Marty (Marlena) Martinez; sister-in-laws, Ory (Jeff) Boney, Sophie (Perk) Hernandez, & Debbie (Jimmy) Moya; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Providence Funeral Home, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Taylor.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a limit of 40 people allowed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. If you are unable to attend, funeral services will be live streamed via Our Lady of Guadalupe YouTube Channel
