Suzy was born on September 17, 1968, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Schwartz and Wilma (Riha) Hickson. The family lived in Tama, Iowa, where Suzy attended school. While attending South Tama High School, Suzy was involved in theater and band.
She attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned a master's degree in Social Work, in which she worked so hard and was proud to have achieved.
Suzy carried her artistic talents throughout her entire life, which included, painting, drawing, coloring, and countless other hobbies. Suzy had a wicked sense of humor, and it was not often that you didn't see her laughing or smiling from ear to ear. Suzy was generous; she loved to give thoughtful gifts to her family and friends. She was a lover of all animals, especially to her precious cats she had throughout the years. Suzy was a great friend and a wonderful listener. She was also very thoughtful and intelligent. Her family and friends are so sad she had to leave, but their memories of her will bring them comfort in the times ahead.
She is survived by her sister Kristine (John) Kelleher of Peyton, Colorado, and brother Brian (Jami) Schwartz of Rockwall, Texas; nieces and nephew; stepfather James Hickson; and stepmother Joan Schwartz.
She rejoins in Heaven her mother Wilma Hickson and father Tom Schwartz.
