Sherry (Sosebee) Key passed away on Tuesday June 12, 2018 in an Abilene nursing home.

Sherry was born October 26, 1942 in Merkel, Texas to J. D. Sosebee and Pauline (Caffey) Sosebee.

She was raised and attended school in Eula and Abilene, and lived her adult life in Abilene and Sweetwater.

She was a certified nurse's aide and worked at the Abilene State School and Coronado and Radford Hills nursing homes during her career, retiring in 1998.

Sherry married Leo Marsh in 1959. After divorcing in 1972, she later married Kenneth Key, who preceded her in death after they divorced.

Sherry was baptist and enjoyed attending church services at nursing home.

Sherry was a unique woman and easy to please. Nothing pleased her more than a simple phone call or visit from family and friends, and an occasional shopping trip to a local thrift shop or Goodwill store, and a stop for a hamburger and milk shake. She liked to read magazines and books and later gifting them to relatives and friends. She was a big fan of Elvis and Conway Twitty. She loved listening to country music and would call her favorite radio station KXOX in Sweetwater, to request a song or just to chat, she was thrilled when her voice was used for an on air commercial.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Laurie (Marsh) Boyd and husband Donald of Trent, Texas, and Tammy (Marsh) Boyd of Trinidad, Texas. Grandchildren include Robbi Lewis and son Ean. Kris Mason and wife Lauren, and sons Andrew, Brennon, Chase, Frankie Dale, and Kristopher, and baby girl to arrive in October, Jennifer (Mason) Dane and children Kamdyn and Emmaleigh Sherry is also survived by two brothers, Winston Sosebee and wife Mary of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Rick Sosebee and wife Cathy of Lubbock; and one sister Paula Sosebee Pope and fiance Mike Carter of Abilene. Nieces Alison Taylor and Dru Hitt; nephews, Scott Sosebee and wife Leslie, Jeff Sosebee and wife Jan, Shannon Sosebee and wife Brenda, Spencer Sosebee, and Dax Hitt and wife Vangie; brother in law Glenn Hitt; uncles, aunts, dozens of cousins, and friends, including Carla Turbush, Deby Burnett, and Peggy Rolle, who made visits to her at the nursing home; and her former brother in law, Chester Pope whom she looked forward to Sunday visits with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Donna (Sosebee) Hitt.

She loved with her whole heart and will be immensely missed by family and friends.

Sherry's cremated remains will be privately buried in the Sosebee family plot in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel. A celebration of life for Sherry will be held at a later date.
