Nelson M. Willis, 57, was found dead at 10:30 p.m. Monday at the site of San Jose's sewage lagoon where he was working. He was working for the city as a substitute for the regular man, who is ill.

He was born July 31, 1915 in Tazewell County, a son of R. C. and Eva Morrison Willis. He married Helen Wheat at Delavan Feb. 20, 1937.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Rodger Christopher, San Jose and Mrs. Robert Vonderheide, Delavan; a son, Dale, San Jose; his father, Hopedale Nursing Home; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Griffin, Green Valley and Mrs. William Canada, San Jose and six grandchildren.

His mother and a brother preceded him in death.

He was a member of the San Jose Fire Department and served on the village board for eight years. He was engaged in trucking and excavation and had been installing sewer lines in the village at present.
