North Brush Creek Column:
....At the residence of James Alderson, the 8th. Mrs. Alderson was making jelly on a fire in the yard, when her clothing caught fire, and as is usual in such cases, she started and ran, which only fanned the flames and no one being present but her small children and she was literally roasted alive. Geo. Rush and son were working nearby, and on hearing her screams, ran to her assistance. When they arrived, her clothing was entirely consumed and she was so fatally burned that she lived but a few hours. Leaves behind husband and several small children.
