John Jacob Waggoner was born 20 May 1816 in Maryland. He died 8 Jan 1893 in Burkittsville, Frederick Co., MD, and was buried in Hagerstown at Rose Hill Cemetery. He married Mary Ann Reilly 25 Sep 1840 in Waynesboro, Franklin Co., PA. She was born 23 Sep 1821 in Waynesboro, the daughter of James Reilly and Hannah Wilson. Mary Ann died 20 Feb 1879 in Hagerstown at home on West Antietam Street and was buried in Hagerstown at Rose Hill Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Death of Former Resident
J. J. Waggoner died Monday at Burkittsville, Frederick county, of general debility, in the seventy-seventh year of age. Deceased was for a number of years a resident of Hagerstown. He was a cooper by trade, at which he worked until about a year ago. He is survived by six children, Mrs. James Hays, Leitersburg; Maggie P. Waggoner, Burkittsville; George R. and John P. of Roanoke; Charles R. Altoona; Mrs. Lewis C., Heist, Martinsburg. The remains will be brought to this city on the two o'clock train on the Baltilmore & Ohio Railroad this evening. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Intelligence was received in this city (Hagerstown, MD) yesterday of the death of Mr. John Wagner of Burkittsville, Frederick County, after a short illness at the age of 77 years. Death was due to general debility. Mr. Wagner at one time lived in this city. He was the father of Mrs. James Hayes, of Leitersburg, Maggie P. Wagner, of Burkittsville; Geo. R. and John P., of Roanoke; Chas. R. of Altoona, and Mrs. Lewis C. Heist, of Martinsburg, but formerly of this city. The interment of Mr. Wagner will be made in this city at Rose Hill Cemetery, his remains arriving by B&O train at two o'clock tomorrow. Mr. Watkins has charge of the funeral.
