Margie JoAnn Thompson (Pals), 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, in Guthrie Center. She was born to Johannas and Vergena Pals on January 15, 1939.

She was raised in the First Reformed Church of Meservey, Iowa, and was baptized there. She also graduated from catechism there. Margie graduated from the Meservey Consolidated School in 1957. She had several jobs including a clerk at several different places and also babysitting.

She married Marvin Thompson at the First Reformed Church in Meservey on February 8, 1960. They were married 53 years before Marvin passed on August 9, 2013. To this union four children were born, Martin, Marlin, Mark, and Marcie. They traveled all over as Marvin was in the army. Marvin and Margie were both members of Pastor Dean’s church The Open Bible church when they decided to settle down in Guthrie Center in 1990. Then they joined The First Christian Church when the Open Bible closed. Margie’s hobbies included collecting angels, reading, and sewing.

Margie is survived by son, Martin and friend, Linda; Marlin and wife, Dezetta, their three children, Sarah her daughter, Chelsie, and son, Isaac, Stephanie husband, Stephen, their son, Will, and Jacob and friend, Hanna; Mark his two boys, Eric and Forest, and Angie’s kids and grandkids; and Marcie her husband, Robert and their sons, Jonathan, Robert and Ian; three sister-in-laws, Millie her son, Marty; Sharon her daughter, Sherry; Sandy and her three kids, Diana, Carol, and Janet. She also leaves behind two sisters, Karen her three kids, Rachel, Gene and Ricky; and Vivian and her three boys, David, Michael, and Timothy. She has 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Johannas and Vergena Pals; her husband, Marvin; daughter-in-law, Angie, Mark’s wife; nephew, Joe Pals; and grandson, James Thompson.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center.
