Judy Jan Falk, 80, of Gaylord, passed away May 19, 2020, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
Judy was born in Coldwater, MI, on December 5, 1939, to her late parents, Homer and Dorothy Cox. Judy was the youngest of two daughters. Her sister, Barbara, was twelve years older than her. As a child, Judy enjoyed spending her summers on the lake and watching movies with her friends at the local movie theatre, which her parents owned. After high school, Judy entered nursing school, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. Shortly after nursing school, she met her husband, Chuck. They married in California while Chuck was in the Navy. In November of this year, they would have been married for 59 years. Together they raised three boys, Toby, Troy, and Andy, and one girl, Trish.
As an RN, Judy primarily worked for the State of Michigan at the Alpine Center, which was a hospital that specialized in caring for those with intellectual disabilities. Her passion for being a nurse resonated with all those she came in contact with during the 20 years she worked there, eventually retiring in October of 1991.
Besides spending time with her family, Judy enjoyed camping, dining out, reading books, scrapbooking, crocheting, and could often be found silently observing (giggling) while she people watched. In the fall, Judy never missed a University of Michigan football game, either watching at home with family or at The Big House – Go Blue! Judy was also very active in her church and choir at the First Congregational Church, where she and Chuck were members for over 30 years.
Judy is survived by her children, Toby (Sheri) Falk, Troy (Judy) Falk, Tricia (Jeff) Wegmeyer, and Andy (Missi) Falk; her grandchildren, Austin (Kellie) Falk, Jordan Falk, Kory (Alice) Wegmeyer, Lauren Wegmeyer, Alex (Cassie) Falk; and her great-granddaughter, Addyson Falk. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Falk, and her sister, Barbara Yost, who are joyfully dancing with her in heaven now.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., outside by the gazebo, at the First Congregational UCC
