James Sidney ALFORD is the son of Greenberry ALFORD and his wife Elizabeth WINNINGHAM.
James was a skilled cabinet maker in the Franklinville Community of Randolph County. When he was age 22 he married Mary Ann YORK, age 17, on 20 March 1855 in Franklinville, Randolph County, North Carolina.
They were the parents of six children:
