Sylvia McCuin passed from this life and went home to be with her Lord on August 16, 2007. She was born November 27, 1907. "Ma Sylvia" as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren as well as her church family and the entire Welcome Home community, lived 99 years, just missing the century mark by a couple of months. Ma's life was centered around her family and her church. She was characterized by her generosity and giving spirit. She gave to her family—making quilts for her children and grandchildren and homemade dolls and sock monkeys for her great grand children which extended to six generations. She gave to her community by taking meals to the needy, visiting the sick and serving as a mid-wife to young expectant mothers. She gave to her Lord by serving in her church as a Sunday School teacher, a youth leader, and her extensive involvement in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a loving and caring mother whose family meant more to her than anything in the world. Ma will be missed in this life but heaven will be enriched by her presence.

She is survived by a daughter, Alene Coffman & husband, Lawnie of Searcy; a son, Donald McCuin & wife, Rose of Stanton, Texas; a daughter, Anna Coffman & husband, Lattie of Hector; a daughter, Louise Hubbard of Morrilton; and a son, Bill McCuin and wife, Brenda of Plano, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; thirty-one great, great grandchildren; two great, great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sarah Condley; her husband, Roy McCuin; a son, Harold McCuin; an infant daughter, Imogene McCuin; a grandson, Rickey Coffman; a son-in-law, Dewey Hubbard; her brothers, Horace Condley, Charlie Condley and Jessie Condley; and her sisters, Lula Coffman, Eva Frost, Ada Hill, Minnie Engle, Nora Coffman and Bessie Miller.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randell Williams and the Rev. Arthur "Bo" Coffman officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Hector, by Humphrey Funeral Service.
