René Garcia Sr. passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born in McAllen, Texas on July 2, 1936 to Enrique and Maria Garcia. René was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 52 years; and his brother, Lionel Garcia. He is survived by his son, René Garcia Jr.; son, Jose D. Garcia Sr. and wife Diana; and daughter, Maria J. Smith and husband Curtis; grandchildren, Danny Garcia Jr.(Sonia), Elaine Hambre (Stuart), Shannon Smith, Kasey May (James), and Andrew Garcia; great grandchildren, Cydney Garcia and Kayla Garcia; and sister, Olga Renteria. René joined the U.S. Army in 1956. He was a proud member of the American Legion, VFW Post 7110, and the Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5-8 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home. A private Funeral Service will be held with burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
