Shirley Eubanks Jacobs, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at her home in Lexington after a courageous battle with a reoccurrence of cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Richard Thomas “Dick” Jacobs, Jr., parents Bob and Mae Eubanks of Louisville and brother Bob Eubanks, Jr. of Louisville.

She was a graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville and attended Eastern Kentucky University. A homemaker in the early years of her marriage, she retired after 17 years in the Psychology Department at the University of Kentucky. She also was a violinist for 15 years in the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. She was an avid golfer, fisherman and fierce ping pong player. She was a member of the NorthEast Christian Church, Lexington, and a former member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Trinity Hill Methodist Church.

Shirley is survived by three sons; Richard T. Jacobs III of Omaha, NE, Gregory Eubanks Jacobs (Karen) of Acworth, GA and Daniel Robert Jacobs (Lynn) of Lexington. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Lauren Jacobs Hutson (Daniel), Brian Edward Jacobs, Brett Anthony Jacobs, Eric Michael Jacobs and Nicole Marie Jacobs. A sister, Carol Gittli of Louisville, also survives as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After a small private funeral service, burial will be in Lexington Cemetery,
