Roland Patterson, 81 of Milton, FL passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at 1:55 am

The eldest of three children born to the late Moree Black and Raymond "Chief" Patterson in 1938, Roland loved fishing with his father and playing football (#31) or baseball with his brother James. He also loved being his little sister Linda's dance partner. Some of his best "tall tales" were created within these moments and memories. Called Papa or "Tea Party Papa" by his grandchildren, his tall tales were often told over ice cream, or during the several tea parties with his granddaughter "little britches". Papa was talented at blurring the lines between realty and fiction. He ended his final tale with "you will never know". Roland was an avid Golfer as well as an Alabama football fan. Every Saturday he made sure to watch the game with his grandson Corndog. He served in the Army and after separation, he worked at Monsanto for 18 yrs. He started his custom cabinetry business Pensacraft after he left Monsanto. Pensacraft is now owned and operated by his son's Andrew, Michael and Christopher. It was his dream to leave something for his boys to build on and grow. They have done just that, in remarkable ways.

Roland is preceded in death by his daughter Ro (Rolanda) Patterson, mother Moree Black and father Chief Patterson. He is survived by his amazing, loving wife Mary J. Patterson, their six children, Cherie Zack (Bill Zack), Jeff Booth (Bebe Booth), Michael Patterson, Christopher Patterson, Hollie Patterson, Andrew Patterson (Rosali Patterson); Grandchildren: Megann, Dakota, Tyler, Sammy, Bobby (Carly), Troy (Samantha), James, Brittany, Darson, Brandee, Caleb, Ian, Tristian, Dillon, Piper, Casey (Kaitlin), Corey, Xander, Caitlyn, Robyn and coming soon to our arms, Ada Great Grand Children: Emma, Gracie and Riley and coming soon to our arms Alliona; Siblings: James Patterson and Linda Marasco and numerous nieces, nephews and cousin.

Memorial Service to be held at Ft. Barrancas, Pensacola, FL (date pending).

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of Covenant Hospice for the love, care guidance and support given to us all during his last few days.
