1935 – 2022

Loretta "Fern" Anderson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 15, 2022, at the age of 87.

Fern was born on March 22, 1935, in Edmond, OK, the second of five girls, to Floyd Hazen Oakes and Nora Jewel (Hastings) Hageman. She attended school at Edmond Normal School through her junior year in high school and then graduated Edmond High School one year early, in 1952.

While in junior high, Fern met the love of her life, Raymond Eugene Anderson. After dating for four years, they were married on September 10, 1952, while he was home on leave from boot camp. Fern and Raymond were each other's best friend and were married 62 years.

At the age of 17, Fern went to work as a clerk at the TG&Y store in Edmond. Shortly thereafter, she was transferred to the steno pool at TG&Y headquarters in Oklahoma City. While at headquarters, she received many promotions, awards, and earned many titles. In 1975, she was promoted to office manager over the distribution center at 33rd and Kelly in Edmond. She remained there until its closing in 1992. She went back to headquarters where she sorted through and assisted various legal teams with the disbursement and destruction of several thousand documents and different merchandise that was in litigation for the now defunct TG&Y Stores that had been purchased by McCrory. She was the last TG&Y employee left in the headquarters building upon her retirement in 1994, retiring from a very successful career that spanned 42 years with TG&Y.

Fern and Raymond enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and visited many sites and countries over the years. She loved hosting Christmas and Easter for her large family and enjoyed sewing, crafts, and collecting dolls and antiques. She loved spending time with family, especially her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, mother and father, and four sisters. She is survived by her son Tony Anderson and wife Debbie of Moore; daughter Kimberly Sharp and husband Perry of Arcadia; Grandsons Zachary Anderson and wife Amber of Bethany; Kyle Anderson of Tulsa; Rolla Forcum and wife Dakota of Moore; Brandon Goodwin of Moore; Granddaughter Crystal Deken and husband Dave of Stillwater; Great-granddaughters Toby Henderson-Anderson of Bethany; Molly and Savannah Deken of Stillwater; Dylan, Brielle, and Parker Forcum of Moore; Brother-in-laws James Weber of Oklahoma City; Melvin Parsons of Edmond; Curtis Roberts of Arcadia; Sister-in-law Linda Piatt of Edmond, and a host of family and friends.
