Effie passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the St. Camillus Rehabilitation Center at the age of 95. Born July 21, 1924 in Auburn NY to Peter and Eva Severin Sr. Graduating from Auburn Central H.S. in 1942, she continued her education completing courses to become a nurse's aide. A life resident of Central NY, she married Leon C. Hungerford in 1948 moving to Camillus where they had two children before settling in Geddes. Effie was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Westvale for many years, and at one time, working for the Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. She was also employed by Metropolitan Life Ins Co., Utica Mutual Ins. Co. and Canteen Vending. She had an avid love for ice skating and roller skating. Predeceased by her husband Leon and brother Peter Severin Jr. Effie is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Ed) Carter of Lady Lake Fla., son, Leon P. (Dottie) of Syracuse and grandchildren, Terri Newman, Brian, and Rebecca Hungerford. The family would like to thank the St. Camillus staff for the wonderful care they provided. Services: There will be no calling hours due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Burial will be private in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clear Path for Veterans, clearpath4vets.com or 1223 Salt Springs Rd, Chittenango, NY 13037.
