Sharon F. Lawrence, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 12:48 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2020 at Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.
Sharon was born July 16, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Son Johnson and Josephine Kathryn Emmert Johnson and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
Sharon worked for the Joplin R-RVIII School District for many years, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed attending garage and estate sales; gardening; tending to flowers; baking and cooking for family. She was of the Catholic faith. Her family meant everything to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them in their activities. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her children, Michele Lawrence, Joplin, Michael Lawrence and wife, Lisa, Joplin; grandchildren, Allie and Cole Lawrence; a brother, William Johnson, Joplin; and a sister, Karon Lopez, Springfield.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, David Johnson; and two sisters, Charlotte Fitchett and Barbara Jones.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Tim Sumners will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
