Regina Jones, 98, of Higbee passed away in her home on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Visitation will be held at the Higbee Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 1:00 – 3:00, with service at 3:00. Burial to follow at Higbee City Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, there will be a celebration of Regina’s life at Barrel 53.
Regina was born on December 9, 1921 in Macon County to Archie and Ora Fulmer Borron. On May 2, 1942, she married George Jones. George and Regina were life-long residents of Higbee where they farmed and raised cattle. Regina devoted her life to her family, the farm, her church, and her community. She spent countless hours making sure the family was taken care of and the farm was running. When neighbors would come to help, she made sure that there was a good meal on the table. Regina loved her church. She was the longest living member, a very active member and she would definitely let everyone know. Regina treasured helping with vacation bible school and cooking at summer camp. She was a proud volunteer at the VA Hospital in Columbia for over 20 years, she was also a member of Eastern Star. Regina was an amazing mom, a phenomenal grandma, a remarkable great-grandma George, a wonderful friend who will be greatly missed.
Regina is survived by one son, Rick Jones, Higbee; one daughter, Carolyn (Chick) Ashworth, Clark; one granddaughter, Sheila Barcus, Texas; and one great granddaughter, Rickie Barcus, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one sister, Maxine Robb, Illinois; nieces, nephews, and several good friends.
Regina is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George of 46 years; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Kenneth and Lola Bell Borron; Van and Alice Borron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Regina may be made to the Higbee Baptist Church.
