Mr. Lane was born March 5, 1914 in Savannah, Georgia, the son of Mills Bee Lane and Mary Comer Lane. He was a graduate of The University of North Carolina. Mr. Lane retired as Chairman of the Board of Citizens and Southern Corporation. He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; four children: Hugh C. Lane, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Beverly L. Jost of Washington, D.C., Kathleen L. Schenck of Charleston, SC and Charles G. Lane of Charleston, SC; and twelve wonderful grandchildren.
