Taylor – Vanessa Ann Taylor, age 67, of Taylor, Florida passed away on May 23, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County in Middleburg, Florida with her loving family by her side. She was born in Lake City, Florida on January 13, 1953 to the late Clarence Taylor and Gertye Stokes Taylor. Vanessa was a lifelong resident of Baker County. She graduated from Baker County High School in 1970 and started her longtime career as an Educational Support Professional through the Baker County School System in 1979. She enjoyed her time as the President of the Baker School Related Personnel Association where she served for 15 years. In 2009, Vanessa retired after dedicating over 30 years in the school system. More than anything, Vanessa loved her family, enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of Taylor Church who enjoyed traveling, going to yard sales, collecting antiques, and being around her friends. Vanessa was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Vanessa is survived by her loving children, Tamela (Dan) Gallo of Macclenny, FL, Jack Hodges, Jr. of Orange Park, FL, Jamey (Brandi) Hodges of Macclenny, FL, and Jeremy (Amanda) Hodges of Glen St. Mary, FL; her brothers, Stewart (Iralene) Taylor of Taylor, FL, Gary (Cathy Golon) Taylor of Macclenny, FL; and her grandchildren, Owen Hodges, Katherine Hodges, Caroline Hodges, Chelsey Sampley, Kayla Sampley, Jillian Hodges, Jarren Hodges, Jackson Hodges, and Jameson Hodges.

A Celebration of Vanessa’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Taylor Church with Pastor Mark Woods and Pastor Jim Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery.
