Lived in Hailey, Idaho for a number of years we he served with the Idaho National Guard, including prosecuting the 1892 Coeur d'Alene labor strike when martial law was declared. He also served as Deputy Clerk of the District Court and Probate Judge.

Former Mt. Carmel Man Dies in Seattle, Wash.
Silas C. John, 84, member of an early Mount Carmel family , died in Seattle, Wash. where he lived for many years. Death resulted from a complication following an accident in which the former Mount Carmel man was struck by a truck.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry John and native of roaring Creek Valley, Silas John was educated in Mount Carmel schools. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a car inspector at Mount Carmel until the late 1880's, when he moved to Idaho. Still later he lived in Nome, Alaska, before establishing residence at Seattle.
The only immediate survivor is Attorney C. E. Elmer John, Mount Carmel, of the oldest practicing attorneys in Northumberland County. Burial will be in Seattle.

Brother of Mt. Carmel Attorney Fatally Hurt
Silas Curtin John, former Mt. Carmel resident and brother of Elmer C. John, a Mt. Carmel attorney, died at the age of 84 in Seattle, Wash., Sunday as a result of injuries suffered some time ago when he was crushed by a truck.
born in Locust Township, Columbia County, he was empllyed in the Pennsylvania Railroad freight station at Mt. Carmel before leaving for the west in the last 1880's. Funeral services and burial will be made in Seattle.
