Lucille Laurette (Lamoureux) Kilar
April 13, 1930 ~ May 16, 2020 (age 90)

On May 16th, 2020 Lucille Laurette Kilar (Lamoureux) left us into the hands of God. Lucille was born April 13th, 1930 in Edmonton Alberta. Her parents, Ernest and Angelina, farmed outside of Edmonton, and Lucille was active during her younger years helping out on the farm. She was also involved in girls' sports most notably girls and ladies' softball as well as playing hockey on the frozen ponds with her family. After high school, Lucille attended University and embarked upon a teaching career. This career brought her to several communities in western Canada where she taught elementary school before returning to Edmonton to teach at St Nicolas elementary. She met her husband Joseph Kilar in Edmonton and they married in 1960. Within a couple of years they moved from Edmonton and began to run the family farm near Boyle. Lucille continued to teach as well as help Joseph on the farm and raise three sons. Lucille was an advocate of education for her boys as well as ensured they played the sports of hockey and baseball that she enjoyed. Lucille also spent a lot of her time supporting St Alphonsus, Boyle, and St Gabriel’s, Athabasca, Catholic Church’s and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s league. In her support of the CWL Lucille was elected to several local and provincial executive positions. Lucille is predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2011. Due to the recent government restrictions on the number of people allowed to gather, the family will be holding a private service at the St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church. The Kilar family would like to thank the staff at the Athabasca Auxillary for all the love age care they provided Lucille. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Athabasca Healthcare Centre Auxilliary Association.
